TaylorMade for victory!

The annual DCE Soccer tournament kicked off on Tuesday 6th February and saw eight teams take to the field to battle it out for a chance at victory for their company. The tournament always promises fierce competition and this year is proving to be no exception.

Round One – TaylorMade vs. Fortunato FC

Led by captain, Raymond Li, ‘TaylorMade’ faced their first opponent, Fortunato F.C (representing Fortunato Group) with fresh enthusiasm and a pep in their step. This led to a significant 15 – 3 victory over Fortunato F.C and joyous first win for the TaylorMade team.

Round Two – TaylorMade vs. Cardno No No No No FC
The second round proved to be a trying night for the TaylorMade team, with only the minimum of five participants available for the night. Despite being in full work attire and sporting a first round injury, Captain Ray Li took to the field to ensure the team could carry on; a brilliant representation of Taylors value of finding solutions in all situations. The team made a valiant effort to remain in first place, but alas fell short and lost 10 – 2 against this weeks opponents Cardno No No No No FC (representing Cardno). However, TaylorMade currently stands fourth on the ladder.

Round Three – TaylorMade vs. M.M United
The third round saw a shake-up in the TaylorMade team to try and catch first placeholders M.M United by surprise. Young talent, Michael Korfiatis took to the field, bringing honed soccer skills that the opponent did not expect. However this resulted in rougher play as M.M United brought the pressure. It was a very physical match as the desire to be victorious grew, and TaylorMade presented a real challenge for M.M United with exceptional defensive tactics which kept them on their toes.
It was a hard fought match, and despite losing to M.M United, TaylorMade presented the smallest losing margin thus far of any team to face M.M United. Despite a 11 – 5 loss, TaylorMade is confident for a turnaround in next weeks match.

Round Four – TaylorMade vs. Team DCE
Bodies and team pride were on the line this week, as TaylorMade battled fiercely against hosts Team DCE. This was the game to win! Taylors commitment to the game meant the crowd witnessed a handful of nail-biting near misses. Young star Michael Korfiatis used his agility to narrowly avoid collision (see image) and while fierce competitor Magdaline Loizou suffered an elbow to the face, she didn’t let that deter her from focusing on the task at hand. Both teams bought their A game and gave it their all, however due to a couple of lucky DCE goals slipping through, the TaylorMade team went down 5 – 2.

The Finals! – TaylorMade vs. BMD Urban Metrics
For the final round, the TaylorMade team took on fourth place holders BMD Urban Metrics with a determination to win and end our 2018 season on a high! The game was fierce and full of finals fun, and despite an ‘own goal’ committed by a TaylorMade team member who would prefer to remain nameless, our team was triumphant! With a 6 – 3 and a couple of extra points on the board, the great team work of TaylorMade has filled us with promise for a finals run in 2019!
TaylorMade would like to thank each of its team members for the effort and skill that was brought to the table, and the support of those in the office and those who came to watch and cheer on each game.

Congratulations to team Montdami Atletico for taking home the trophy for the 2018 DCE Soccer Tournament! We look forward to seeing you – and all the other teams – for more competition next year!
