Long Island Country Club
An area that is very well developed from a residential point of view, the parcel of land excised from the Long Island Country Club was always going to be one of great potential and exposure. Essentially abutting Dandenong Rd and the Country Club, the site offers close transport links into the city of Melbourne and also toward the Mornington Peninsula and surrounds. The interface with the country club also provides for a sharing of views and greenery to soften the development boundary.
The boundaries of the site presented challenges of varying natures, such as noise from the busy adjacent Dandenong Rd, access to the site for proposed residents and larger vehicles such as waste management and the like, and managing the interfaces with the country club and the existing adjacent residential development. The final design was able to accomplish these challenges with a variety of single and double storey dwellings, indispersed with green links to the golf club and a softened elevation facing the existing residential neighbours.
